Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd.

Sales and support of broadcast cameras in Russia over three decades

E-Globaledge has long been selling and supporting broadcast cameras produced by Ikegami Tsushinki. Today, Kentaro Yamamoto, our ES2 manager, interviewed Mr. Kenzo Ishizuka, manager of overseas sales section No. 2 in the overseas sales department, sales division, and Mr. Kentaro Tanaka, representative section chief of the same section of Ikegami Tsushinki, which is a manufacturer of broadcast cameras, about the sales and support capabilities of E-Globaledge.

Sales force supported by trust with clients

Mr. Kentaro Tanaka, Ikegami Tsushinki

Yamamoto

Business with your company started in 1980, three decades ago, when we were still a trading company. Ikegami's broadcast cameras were in great world-wide demand at that time, and it's the same today. When the Moscow Olympics were held in 1984, we were asked about the purchase of the world's top cameras from a broadcast station in Moscow.

However, it took about six months to deliver products in those days, though things are different now, of course, and we could not deliver the cameras by the delivery date under normal circumstances. We then asked your company to adjust the schedule which enabled us to make the delivery. That was the beginning of our business, and since then, we have been selling Ikegami's cameras in Russia, and also in Vietnam since 1995.

Mr. Tanaka accompanied us to Russia for a business negotiation. Tell me how you really felt then.

Kentaro Yamamoto, E-Globaledge

Mr. Tanaka

First, the atmosphere of the office was very good and I felt every staff member worked together for the good of the organization. The atmosphere when negotiating with the client was also so good that we even exchanged some jokes.

What was particularly surprising was that you hired a person exclusively for presentations. The presenter was a real professional and gave us an effective presentation, though it was a little bit long. One project took about two and a half hours.

However, people in Russia listened to the presentation very enthusiastically and no person was sleeping during it. When a participant asked a question, the presenter as well as the accompanying center manager and other staff replied, which told me that the entire office supported the presentation.

Extensive support by the local support group

Mr. Kenzo Ishizuka, Ikegami Tsushinki

Yamamoto

Thank you very much. By the way, what do you think of the fact that we not only sell products but also provide supporting services in Russia?

Mr. Ishizuka

Our products are for professional use, which means just having good products is not enough. Support is also very important. In this sense, we are encouraged by E-Globaledge which has an associate company specialized in support in Russia. Of course, our customers no doubt feel the same way.

Mr. Tanaka

The sales force of E-Globaledge in Russia including support is irreplaceable. Our products are for professional use, and so knowledge about the industry and human networks are also essential for sales, with technological capabilities also being necessary. I think these are E-Globaledge's strengths.

Yamamoto

We may be flattering ourselves, but we have been working with Russia since the age of the Soviet Union. Therefore, I think we have many more human connections and a greater degree of expertise than any other company in Japan. For example, these electronics need to satisfy safety standards in each country, but the procedures in Russia are so different and human connections are also necessary. We also take care of these procedures.

Mr. Ishizuka

I think the arrangement of various systems, not only for selling products, increases your sales.

Sales expansion of newest cameras toward the Sochi Olympics

Yamamoto

I'm pleased to tell you that 200 handy cameras for news coverage were sold in Russia.

Mr. Ishizuka

The newest model tapeless camera "GF Series" has improved its storage medium from tapes to flash memories. We took the lead in the development of tapeless broadcast cameras, which enabled full digital processing from recording to transmission.

Yamamoto

In 2014, the Winter Olympics will take place in Sochi, Russia. Broadcast stations in Russia must be considering the introduction of new technologies for this event. I believe this new product will meet their needs.

Yamamoto

Thank you very much for today's interview.
